Operation Freedom, a program of Freedom Service Dogs, was developed
to help veterans and military personnel with a disability regain their
independence and return to their communities.
Freedom Service Dogs is unique in that they do not breed dogs. Instead, they
are one of the few organizations in the U.S. to rescue abandoned dogs from
shelters around the nation and custom train them to fit individual needs.
A Freedom Service Dog is a highly trained, gentle and constant helper. With
unconditional love, they provide support as a veteran re-learns to walk. They
can help get them out of bed and open doors. They keep strangers at a distance.
They find keys and cell phones for vets with memory problems. Perhaps most
importantly, they are always there in difficult moments and help break down
the barriers of isolation and anxiety with their trusted companionship.
